Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Administrative Officer this position supports financial, human resources and operational activities of the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics (LANG) Dean’s Office. The incumbent is primarily responsible for supporting all financial functions within the Lang Dean’s Office and its units (e.g. paying invoices, making purchases, doing journal entries), as well as supporting financial transactions, analysis, and reporting for the School. The incumbent will also support human resources functions within the LANG Dean’s Office and college-wide human resources processes (e.g. drafts and executes Lang Wellness plan, posting GTA/UTA/GSA appointments, payroll time entry, back up for school tenure and promotion process). Finally, this position will provide additional project management and administrative support, including coordinating a number of programs and initiatives as directed and providing back up to the other staff in the Lang Dean’s Office.

 

Requirements

Two (2) year community college diploma in a related field such as business, accounting, or human resources and at least one and a half (1.5) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Undergraduate degree in a related field is preferred.   

 

The ability to make decisions using integrity and sound judgment is essential. Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with a variety of groups under tight deadlines; maintain a high level of confidentiality and a high level of discretion and tact to deal with confidential and sensitive matters and the ability to multitask. Prior experience supporting and completing financial transactions, analysis, metrics and reporting is crucial for this role. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills which are crucial for contact with faculty, students and external stakeholders; strong communication skills; ability to work well independently and within a team. An understanding of academic programs, university policies and procedures, and administrative systems will be considered an asset. Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products is essential and familiarity with University software and systems, including Gryphons at Work/Human Resources Management System (HRMS), GAW Time and Scheduling, and SAP Concur would be considered an asset.
