General Purpose

The Night Response Team Assistant Manager leads overnight mobile response operations supporting 5,000 residence students across 12 buildings. This role ensures timely response to student concerns, facilities issues, and safety‑related events while supervising and supporting a three‑person Night Response Team. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate nightly mobile response operations across campus. 

  • Prioritize and respond to lockouts, noise complaints, wellness checks, facility issues, and safety concerns. 

  • Make real‑time decisions during incidents and escalate to Residence Life, Campus Safety, or emergency services when needed. 

  • Supervise, coach, and train Night Response Team staff. 

  • Ensure accurate incident documentation and communicate follow‑up needs to daytime leadership. 

  • Maintain and update overnight Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 

  • Serve as the primary overnight contact for Residence Life Staff on Call, Campus Safety, and Physical Resources. 

  • Support special projects and peak‑period operations (Orientation, Halloween, Homecoming). 

 

Requirements

  • Two year Community College diploma in business, hospitality or similar field is required. 

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, including work in student housing or a similar residential environment; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

  • Strong judgment, decision‑making, and crisis‑response skills. 

  • Experience working in a unionized environment is an asset. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, work order systems, StarRez, and security software. 

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, including supporting students in distress. 

  • Ability to work independently overnight with frequent interruptions and quick decision‑making.

The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
