General Purpose

The Experiential Learning Hub collaborates with campus, industry and community partners to provide experiential learning opportunities that enable students to apply and advance their learning in a real-world context. The primary role of the Coordinator, Experiential Learning Recognition is operational management of the co-curricular experiential learning quality assurance framework, ensuring all approved co-curricular experiential learning activities meet institutional standards. They also coordinate all aspects of the institutional Professional and Career Development Record (PCDR), U of G’s definitive source for recognizing student engagement in curricular and co-curricular experiential learning. These activities directly support students in achieving their personal, academic, and career goals.
 
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Campus and Community Integrated Learning, the Coordinator, Experiential Learning Recognition is responsible for:
  • Managing the operations and ongoing review of a comprehensive validation and quality assurance process for the University of Guelph’s Professional and Career Development Record (PCDR);
  • Designing, delivering, and evaluating a range of synchronous and asynchronous tools and resources that support internal and external partners in achieving the quality standards required for co-curricular experiential learning and professional development opportunities;
  • Managing all administrative aspects of the Co-curricular Experiential Learning Advisory Committee (CELIC) and the Professional and Career Development Record Student Advisory Committee (PCDR-AC) including recruiting and onboarding new members, determining agendas, facilitating meetings, and maintaining ongoing communication between members;
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive student, staff, and faculty engagement and marketing plan to support increased student participation in co-curricular experiential learning, professional development opportunities, and the PCDR with the goal of one completed opportunity per student;
  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive plan for validating student-led and off-campus co-curricular opportunities and professional development activities;
  • Recruiting, training, and coaching a team of student Peer Helpers tasked with supporting PCDR and experiential learning outreach activities;
  • Leveraging communications software to maintain regular communication with co-curricular experiential learning and professional development leaders about institutional goals, best practices, and upcoming opportunities;
  • Building and maintaining collaborative relationships with campus and external partners while promoting best practices, continuous improvement, and engagement in experiential learning and professional development opportunities.
 
Requirements
  • An undergraduate degree;
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant experience in relationship management, outreach and marketing, co-curricular experiential learning program planning and delivery, and/or student advising/coaching;
  • Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and influence relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders while exercising diplomacy, tact, and sound judgment;
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills;
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion principles and have experience supporting diverse communities;
  • Strong administrative, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize responsibilities;
  • Experience supervising, training, and coaching students;
  • Experience assessing program effectiveness and measuring outcomes is an asset;
  • Knowledge of experiential education, career advising, human resource practices, and student development theory is an asset;
  • Knowledge of the University academic programs, co-curricular activities, and procedures is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Orbis Communication's Outcome platform is an asset.

Professional/Managerial Salary Bands 

The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
