General Purpose
The Department of Athletics is committed to providing opportunities for wellness and community engagement through programs and services that support the pursuit of excellence in high performance sport, community sporting events, and fitness, intramural and recreational activities. Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications, the Digital Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in enhancing the visibility and engagement of the University’s varsity athletics, recreation programs, and special events.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Digital Engagement Coordinator is responsible for creating and executing digital marketing strategies that promote varsity teams, drive ticket sales, support fundraising and signature events, and increase student participation in fitness and recreation programming. The incumbent creates and distributes digital marketing content across social media, email marketing, multimedia content, website updates, and other digital tools to support integrated marketing communications and Gryphon Athletics strategic priorities.
As a member of the Marketing and Communications unit, the incumbent works collaboratively with internal Athletics units, with a primary focus on intercollegiate athletics, fitness and recreation, and special events such as Homecoming, Frosty Mug, She’s Got Game Gala, Hall of Fame, and the President’s Golf Tournament. The position coordinates and executes social media content calendars and digital strategies, creates engaging written, photo, video, and graphic content, monitors digital trends and performance analytics, and applies accessibility standards and inclusive practices across digital communications.
The incumbent also plans, writes, deploys, and analyzes email marketing campaigns, manages email marketing calendars and audience segmentation, and maintains timely and relevant website content for Gryphon Athletics programs and feature events. The role requires sound judgment, strong communication and storytelling skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines, including occasional evening and weekend work at games and special events.

Requirements
- 2-year Community College diploma in Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing, Media Studies, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- minimum of 3 years of experience in digital marketing, social media, marketing communications, or related communications work.
- demonstrated experience creating, posting, scheduling, and measuring engaging social media content across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X/Twitter.
- strong verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience writing engaging content for internal and external audiences.
- experience with email marketing, website content management, analytics, audience segmentation, and optimizing digital content for engagement and search visibility.
- ability to manage multiple projects and assignments, exercise sound judgment, troubleshoot problems, maintain attention to detail, and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic team environment.
- intermediate to advanced proficiency with current digital management tools and platforms, including social media platforms, Google Analytics, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, email content management systems, website content management systems, and Microsoft Office; knowledge of AODA accessibility standards and Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation is considered an asset.
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday with some evening and weekend work.
