General Purpose

The Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) is seeking a strategic and innovative Digital Marketing Lead to develop, implement, and evaluate digital marketing and communications initiatives that advance the College’s recruitment, engagement, and reputational goals.

 

Reporting to the Director, Marketing & Communications, the Digital Marketing Lead serves as the College’s primary digital marketing expert, responsible for overseeing multi-channel campaigns, creating high-impact content, and leveraging analytics to inform strategy and decision-making. This role plays a critical part in supporting faculty and graduate student recruitment, enhancing digital storytelling, and strengthening OVC’s presence across web, social media, and paid digital platforms.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Digital Content Creation & Website Management (60%)

  • Develop, manage, and optimize digital content across website, social media, and digital channels

  • Produce high-quality multimedia content (video, photography, graphics, written content)

  • Ensure all content is accessible (AODA-compliant), SEO-optimized, and aligned with University brand standards

  • Maintain and update website content using CMS (e.g., Drupal)

  • Analyze digital performance metrics and prepare reports to inform strategy

 

Digital Marketing, Social Media & Campaign Execution (30%)

  • Lead planning, execution, and evaluation of digital marketing campaigns

  • Manage social media strategy, content calendars, and publishing schedules

  • Execute paid digital advertising initiatives for recruitment and brand awareness

  • Develop and coordinate newsletters and email marketing campaigns

  • Provide live event coverage and digital storytelling support (occasional evenings/weekends)

 

Strategic Support & Functional Leadership (10%)

  • Provide expert guidance on digital strategy, messaging, and audience engagement

  • Identify and implement emerging tools, technologies, and best practices

  • Contribute to integrated marketing and communications initiatives

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in digital marketing and content creation

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, digital media, journalism, or related field

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in digital marketing or communications

  • Experience developing and managing digital campaigns and content across multiple platforms

  • Experience with CMS platforms (e.g., Content Hub) and social media management tools

  • Demonstrated experience in multimedia content creation (writing, photography, video, design)

  • Proficiency with digital analytics tools and performance reporting

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong project management and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools

  • Knowledge of SEO, digital marketing strategies, and social media best practices

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and manage competing priorities

  • Strategic thinking combined with strong hands-on execution

 

Preferred

  • Certification in digital marketing or analytics (e.g., Google Analytics)

  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, or veterinary environments

  • Training or experience in photography and/or videography

The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
