General Purpose

The School of Continuing Studies (SCS) at the University of Guelph delivers and supports a range of in-demand and on-trend non-degree programming to serve the current and emerging needs of our internal and external communities, industries and partners.  Through our programs and services, we share the expertise of the University of Guelph beyond the University’s boundaries to help build healthy, thriving and sustainable communities in the rapidly evolving context of our region. Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications, the Digital Marketing and Communications Coordinator (DMCC) provides support for all digital marketing and promotional activities within the department. Tasks include content creation for email marketing campaigns, social media, digital advertising, and the SCS website, along with minor web maintenance and some graphic design. The Digital Marketing and Communications Coordinator works collaboratively with departmental staff, members of the University community and external organizations and associations to coordinate and support SCS marketing goals, plans and activities.

 

Requirements

  • Successful completion of a 2-year Community College program in Marketing, plus 1 year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • An understanding of the effective use of digital marketing (email, social media, website) for business needs.
  • Strong writing skills and experience developing content for multiple mediums.
  • Experience with web and social media analytics, especially Google Analytics and Sprout Social.
  • Experience with MailChimp or other email marketing software.
  • Experience with digital and social media ad platforms (LinkedIn, Meta, Google Ads).
  • Knowledge of HTML/web authoring packages or content management systems such as Drupal/Wordpress.
  • Knowledge of graphic design software applications, including Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and Acrobat), and experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated skills in a variety of marketing and promotions channels including social media, email, web and digital ads, organization and time management, meeting facilitation and presenting, and writing and communication.
  • Experience working in a fast paced, multi-tasking, revenue generating environment and the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
