General Purpose
The Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL) supports the University of Guelph's pedagogical mission and provides expertise across our complex educational landscape. Reporting to the Associate Director, Office of Teaching and Learning, the Instructional Technology Specialist serves as a campus-wide resource on the effective use of teaching and learning technologies and collaborates with faculty, instructors, and academic support staff to support curricular innovation, accessibility, and student success.
Duties and Responsibilities
Educational Technology Consultation and Support: Provide leadership and expert consultation on the pedagogically appropriate use of educational technologies, including artificial intelligence; support faculty and instructors in the effective use of Courselink, student response systems, web tools, mobile learning applications and other instructional technologies; consult on course designs for accessibility and Universal Design for Learning; conduct research and environmental scans of emerging technologies; collaborate on institutional initiatives and educational technology implementation projects.
Training, Professional Development and Resource Creation: Design, develop, deliver and evaluate workshops, training sessions; create guides, tutorials and multimedia resources; provide consultations; conduct evaluations and facilitate focus groups.
Research, Scholarship and Knowledge Mobilization: Research, pilot, assess and disseminate findings related to emerging educational technologies; present at conferences and workshops; develop resources supporting pedagogical and functional use of educational technologies; contribute to publications and communities of practice.
Requirements
Master's degree in a related field with 4-6 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional requirements include experience with learning management systems, instructional design, educational technology integration, project management, accessibility, Universal Design for Learning, workshop facilitation, research and evaluation. Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Experience with Brightspace by D2L LMS, FeedbackFruits, Gradescope, iClicker Cloud and Office 365 is an asset.

The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
