General Purpose

The Experiential Learning department is the hub for career development, co-operative education, work-integrated learning, curricular, and co-curricular experiential learning opportunities. The department helps students find and engage in experiential learning opportunities and connect with industry and community partners.

 

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Marketing & Communications, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of internal and external marketing initiatives to promote services provided by the department. The position requires experience with graphic design, implementation of accessibility requirements across all marketing mediums, website maintenance, social media content development, campaign execution, and exceptional written communication skills. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Coordination of outreach to students regarding services and opportunities provided by the department. 
  • Support employer and community partner engagement initiatives, including providing information on recruitment, partnership development, outreach, and event promotion. 
  • Creating graphic designs for web, social media, and print. 
  • Student and employer email campaigns, including pulling target lists, creating and sending event promotion emails, and tracking data. 
  • Research on advertising opportunities to both internal and external audiences. 
  • Provide social media support for the Marketing & Communications team across internal and external channels, including content creation, strategy implementation to increase engagement, trend monitoring, and performance optimization in collaboration with the social media content team. 
  • Maintain and continuously improve department website content, including updates and edits to both the public website and internal SharePoint platform.
  • Supporting digital accessibility audits and staying up to date on new AODA requirements and system capabilities to ensure implementation of accessibility across all marketing mediums.  
  • Sourcing, writing, and promoting Experiential Learning success stories related to students, employers, alumnus and community partners.  
  • On-site event assistance and event material preparation.  
  • Complete incoming marketing and communications requests submitted through the department’s request process.  

  

Requirements 

  • An undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field, along with at least three (3) years’ experience in a marketing role working with accessibility requirements, website maintenance, and social media promotion, preferably in a post-secondary environment. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. 
  • Experience with accessibility requirements for web, videos, and print materials. 
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills. 
  • An understanding of academic programs, university policies and procedures, and administrative systems would be a strong asset. 
  • A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • Experience working with a variety of stakeholders from different employment sectors and other professional staff. 
  • Experience with graphic design software (Adobe, Canva) and email campaigns is an asset. 
  • Experience managing websites, including content maintenance, user journey optimization, and performance analysis using analytics.
  • Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
