General Purpose
The Residence Admissions Clerk provides front-line customer service for Student Housing Services (SHS) to residents, prospective students, parents and other stakeholders. 
 
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include processing housing applications, transfer requests, cancellations; making room assignments; roommate-matching; recruitment, social media and marketing activities; preparing and distributing information, application and other materials throughout the year; adjusting student financial accounts as required; meeting and advising students and parents on housing choices and issues; working with residents and SHS staff in addressing concerns/problems of residents pertaining to room assignment; liaising with stakeholder units such as Student Financial Services; Student Health Services, Student Accessibility Services, Interhall Council, Student Experience, CIP, Admissions, and other university departments. The Clerk processes residence deposits, general student payments to SAR account and other miscellaneous financial transactions as required.
 
Requirements
  • 1-year post secondary diploma in office administration, business administration or marketing.
  • 6 months to 1 year of previous experience.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills are required.
  • The incumbent further requires thorough competency in various computer systems, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Suite, social media platforms and operation of printers, copier, fax and debit machine.
  • Previous experience with website content editing, Colleague or StarRez is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the university admissions cycle, policies and procedures and campus residences are required.
  • The incumbent should be able to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, patience and sensitivity to issues, concerns and needs of applicants and residents.
  • The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines, work well under pressure and perform efficiently in a very busy work environment, accuracy and attention to detail.
