General Purpose
Custodial Services seeks an enthusiastic self-starter to perform the role of Truck Mount operator. Reporting to the Supervisor, Custodial Services, the Truck Mount Operator is responsible for performing specialized carpet cleaning services, responding to floods and cleaning as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Truck Mount Operator maintains a variety of different flooring by sweeping, mopping, pressure cleaning, and steam cleaning. They safely will operate a variety of tools and equipment, including but not limited to carpet cleaners and floor scrubbers. In addition, they will provide specialized cleaning services by washing, dusting, pressure cleaning and scrubbing fixtures, equipment, walls, doors and glass.
The Truck Mount Operator may be required to perform custodial duties associated with equivalent or lower custodial classifications such as collecting and disposal of garbage, vacuuming, dusting and wet mopping floors; maintaining washroom facilities and floors; operating a wide variety of manual and automated custodial equipment; and other associated duties as assigned, in a wide variety of environments at our main campus in Guelph.
Requirements
Candidates must have a minimum Grade 10 education (Grade 12 preferred), more than six months experience with carpet cleaning equipment and over six months experience as a Custodian 4 at the University of Guelph. A valid G license is also required. Successful candidates must have good communication skills, be committed to work both independently and as a member of a team.
In your role as a Truck Mount Operator, you may be required to use various hazardous workplace materials such as environmentally safe and chemical cleaning products. You may be required to operate powered/non-powered equipment and tools, including vacuum cleaners, mops, brooms, etc. Routine physical activities include standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, lifting, and carrying light objects comfortably (less than 25 pounds. Candidates must physically be able to repeatedly conduct the diverse range of motions required for a wide variety of cleaning functions. May be exposed to biohazardous materials, including bodily fluids, vomit, urine, blood etc., requiring appropriate handling and disposal.
