Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Graduate Studies (LANG Dean’s Office), the Manager, Admissions and Student Progress provides leadership and operational oversight for graduate admissions and student progress within the Lang School of Business and Economics. Working closely with the Manager, Lang Graduate Programs and the Associate Dean, Research and Graduate Studies, this role supports the effective administration of graduate and professional programs by ensuring admissions processes, student support services, records, funding, and program milestones are managed consistently, accurately, and in alignment with University policies and procedures. The position serves as a key liaison with academic units and central University offices, including the Office of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies, Enrolment Services, Student Awards, and Student Financial Services.
The Manager supervises the Graduate Program Specialists responsible for admissions and student support, providing direction, coaching, workload coordination, and performance oversight to ensure a high level of service to applicants, students, faculty, and staff. The role also contributes to the strategic management and continuous improvement of Lang graduate programs through data collection, reporting, process review, quality assurance activities, and support for accreditation and program planning.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree with a preference for a Masters Degree
- Three (3) years of experience working with graduate programs (or a combination of relevant education and work experience).
- The ability to make decisions using integrity and sound judgement is essential.
- The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional: interpersonal skills; communication skills (both oral and written); systems-focused approach; time management and prioritization skills; and have a history of demonstrating initiative, and in making sound judgements in ad hoc/ambiguous situations.
- Success in this position requires sound judgment, strong relationship-building skills, effective prioritization, and the ability to manage competing demands in a complex and service-oriented academic environment.
- Successful candidate will also have advanced skill in using Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Teams) and Salesforce. Preference given to candidates who have experience with Colleague (student database) and ExperienceApps (ImageNow/WebNow). An understanding of academic programs, university policies and procedures, and administrative systems are considered an asset.

The target hiring salary for this position is minimum and up to 96% of midpoint for the salary grade.
